Getting the True Essential Oil
Fragrance with its Aromatherapy Benefits
The fragrance is the actual essence of the true plant which
comprises the essential oils. In this way, essential oils differ
from perfume oils or fragrance oils because those oils are merely
artificially created fragrances and also contain artificial
substances, and they are probably diluted with carrier oils. The
perfume and fragrance oils also do not contain the high quality
therapeutic benefits as do essential oils.
Many stores, including natural and health food stores, as well as
aromatherapy vendors, may sell fragrance oils and perfume oils, and
indicate on their labels that they are aroma-therapeutic, in which
they aren’t. They may also promote these oils as being used for
aromatherapy purposes. Companies and individuals can get away with
this false advertising because the U.S. Government does not regulate
the word aromatherapy. The improper labels indicating "aromatherapy"
can be found on candles, skin-care products and several other types
of health and beauty products. These labels are commonly found on
products which are not purchased from a reliable aromatherapy
vendor. Oftentimes those vendors sell at street fairs, flea markets
or other temporary locations. These types of products that contain
the word aromatherapy may have synthetic ingredients, including
fragrance or perfume oils.
Before you purchase any type of aromatherapy products, you should
always check the ingredients listed on the item. If the ingredients
are not listed, or if the product contains perfume oils or other
synthetics, do not buy it. After all, you want a true aromatherapy
product that will provide you with the therapeutic benefits that you
desire.
