Cont: Aromatherapy: You Hear it All the
Time, but do you Know What it is?
Other benefits of essential oils include acting as natural insect
repellents and pesticides. Citronella candles used outside during
the summer months are quite popular for keep mosquitoes away. The
Citronella essential oil contained in the candle provides this
benefit.
Essential oils emit a pleasant fragrance when blended together. They
may also be blended to provide specific therapeutic actions. The
essential oils must be blended in the correct proportions to achieve
greater benefits than if the oils were to work independently.
Be careful of aromatherapy products that contain the label
“aromatherapy” because not all products are natural and pure. You
will not achieve real aromatherapy benefits with products that
contain artificial ingredients. In fact, some do not provide any
benefits, and at best they provide a mere fraction of the benefits.
Look carefully at the ingredients to make sure that the product does
not contain fragrance oils or chemical components. Be wary of
products that do not list their ingredients, or those that do not
have pure essential oils; avoid those products containing the word
“fragrance” in their ingredients. However, there are those sellers
who do sell good quality aromatherapy blends who do not list their
ingredients, and for good reason, they do not want others to copy
their creations. You can get a good idea of the quality of the
product by asking the seller about his particular blend, then
carefully note his or her response. Good suppliers will be excited
about their product and want to tell you all about it.
